therapy for college students
therapy: like office hours, but for your brain
College is often described as “the best years of your life,” but in reality, it can be stressful, uncertain, and even isolating. You’re juggling academic pressures, social dynamics, independence, and the constant question of what’s next? If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just not like yourself, therapy can help.
how therapy can help you level up
work through anxiety about changing majors or choosing your career
find clarity on what success really looks like to you
deal with roommate drama, friendship changes, and social pressures
improve self-confidence and trust your decisions
navigate homesickness and the stress of being away
balance social life, academics, and personal time
set healthy boundaries (without feeling bad about it!)
clarify values and what’s next for your future
therapy that fits in to college life
-
therapy doesn’t have to look the same every time. whether it's in-person, video calls, or phone sessions, you can choose the format that fits your day. no need to travel across campus or worry about finding parking—therapy can happen wherever you are.
-
life in college is hectic, but therapy can fit into your routine. daytime and evening appointments mean therapy works around your busy schedule. and as your course schedule shifts, therapy can adjust too.
-
therapy sessions are tailored to your current needs, and you can decide when and how often to meet, based on what’s going on in your life. (but let’s be real, a lot of students keep coming back because they end up liking it!)
-
therapy off-campus gives you the chance to step away from academic stress and focus on your personal well-being. while therapy is always confidential, seeing a therapist outside of campus can feel even more private, especially if you're concerned about running into classmates or keeping things separate from school life.
-
whether you're on campus or at home for breaks (as long as you're in IL, CO, or FL), therapy can be done virtually, so you can stay consistent no matter where life takes you.
therapy 101: your questions answered
how do I know if I need therapy?
therapy isn’t just for when things are falling apart. if you're feeling stressed, anxious, or just need a space to talk things through, therapy can help. it's for anyone who's ready to get real about what's going on in their life.
what if I don’t know what to say during a session?
totally normal! it’s not a test—you can start anywhere, or even just say, “I don’t know where to start.” therapy is about talking through what’s on your mind at your own pace, and we’ll figure it out together.
how can I afford therapy as a student?
therapy doesn’t have to break the bank! we can work with your budget, and if you have insurance, we’ll check what’s covered. I am in network with most commercial insurance companies. there are also options to make it affordable, so you can focus on feeling better.
how is therapy different from talking to a friend?
friends are awesome, but they don’t have the same training or perspective that a therapist does. in therapy, you get someone who listens without judgment, has your best interests at heart, and helps you work through stuff you might not feel comfortable sharing with your friends.
can I do therapy during school breaks or when I'm at home?
yup! whether you’re at school or home for breaks, therapy can still happen—virtually, so you don’t have to miss out. as long as you're in IL, CO, or FL, we can keep the sessions going no matter where you are.
will my parents know I’m in therapy?
if you’re over 18, it’s completely up to you who you tell. if you're on your parents’ insurance, they may receive billing info, but that doesn’t mean they’ll know what we talk about in sessions. you can always ask me if you have concerns about confidentiality!
